  • Life from Dust

    12/11/2023 Duration: 39min

Jesus brings life from the dust. The man born blind certainly experienced this. But following on from this remarkable healing, onlookers were more reserved about confessing their allegiance to Jesus. In these three groups, we discern three reasons wh...

  • The Good Shepherd

    29/10/2023 Duration: 31min

A good shepherd is willing to do whatever it takes to cause his flock to flourish. He will do whatever it takes to defend them against their greatest enemies.   This image is drawn upon by Jesus who calls himself The Good Shepherd. He lays his life down for his sheep.   This is in contrast to the hired hand who simply sees the sheep as a way to make money - a means to an end.   In this message we see how Jesus is our Good Shepherd, and how his good leadership over our lives stands in beautiful contrast to that of the 'hired hand' that exert influence over our lives - and in so doing deplete us of life.   Only Jesus knows how to lead us to abundant life - through his death, resurrection, and lordship over our lives. • Do You Want to be Healed?

    22/10/2023 Duration: 35min

To the man who spent 38 years chronically unwell, poor, and a social outsider, Jesus asked, 'Do you want to be healed?' It sounds like an odd question - who wouldn't want to be healed? But rather than accepting help from Jesus immediately, the man gave a set of excuses. In this encounter, we gain an insight into the healing power and goodness of Jesus, and understand how he still works today. The reaction of the religious fundamentalists to this amazing healing demonstrates that for them, seeing is definitely not believing. They saw the miraculous healing but wouldn't believe in Jesus. This message addresses both the needy and the self-righteous. Both can experience a radical transformation through an encounter with Jesus. • Living Water

    15/10/2023 Duration: 38min

Jesus meets people sometimes when they least expect it. In this encounter a woman from Samaria was minding her own business, trying to get on with life, when Jesus showed up.   He crosses divides in order for people to encounter him. And when he offers them what their hearts truly desire, we ask, 'Is this available for me too?'   In this message we understand what Jesus offers as his 'living water' and what we must do to take it and drink deeply.   MAIN TEXT John 4:3-18, 27-30   PREACHER David Varney, pastor Foundation Church Belfast   HOW TO GIVE https://foundationchurchbelfast.com/giving/   JOIN THE TEAM https://foundationchurch.churchsuite.com/forms/is7rpbef   FOUNDATION CHURCH BELFAST Every Sunday 10:30am - Knockwood Crescent, Belfast, BT5 6GE We are part of the Advance Movement of churches and the wider Newfrontiers family.

  • The New Birth

    08/10/2023 Duration: 37min

What is a born again Christian?    Jesus teaches that to truly know God, it is essential that a person is born again. To a highly educated religious and political leader like Nicodemus, it was astonishing to hear that religious knowledge and practices were not enough to gain access to God's kingdom.   The new birth is an affront to religious people and a challenge to irreligious people. Yet when we look to Christ as he is 'lifted up' (John 3:15), we can experience the new life he secured for us.   MAIN TEXT John 3:1-15   PREACHER David Varney, pastor Foundation Church Belfast   HOW TO GIVE https://foundationchurchbelfast.com/giving/   JOIN OUR TEAM https://foundationchurch.churchsuite.com/forms/is7rpbef   FOUNDATION CHURCH BELFAST Every Sunday 10:30am - Knockwood Crescent, Belfast, BT5 6GE We are part of the Advance Movement of churches and the wider Newfrontiers family.

  • Water Into Wine

    01/10/2023 Duration: 38min

One of Jesus' most famous miracles is turning water into wine. It was his first miracle and it happened at a wedding feast.    Through turning water into wine, Jesus was demonstrating a fundamental move of God's work had arrived. The ceremonial water required for religious washings was replaced by superb wine - wine being a symbol of the coming kingdom of God.   This message examines these profound symbols and brings hope for those who are empty, spent, exhausted - those trying to find and experience the good life aside from Jesus.   Main Text John 2:1-11   Preacher David Varney, pastor Foundation Church Belfast   How you can give https://foundationchurchbelfast.com/giving/   Join our team https://foundationchurch.churchsuite.com/forms/is7rpbef   Foundation Church Belfast Every Sunday 10:30am - Knockwood Crescent, Belfast, BT5 6GE We are part of the Advance Movement of churches and the wider Newfrontiers family.

  • The Scandal of the Spirit of Jonah

    24/09/2023 Duration: 34min

The book of Jonah ends with a cliff-hanger. The real reason for his running from God comes out and it's not pretty.   Jonah appreciates and enjoys the mercy of God when it is directed towards him - and his people - but when God wants that mercy to extend to other nations and peoples, Jonah is incensed.   The 'Spirit of Jonah' still remains today. This message helps to diagnose the spirit of Jonah in ourselves and shows that only by understanding God's can we kill it off.   Main Text Jonah 4   Preacher David Varney, pastor Foundation Church Belfast   How you can give https://foundationchurchbelfast.com/giving/   Join our team https://foundationchurch.churchsuite.com/forms/is7rpbef   Foundation Church Belfast Every Sunday 10:30am - Knockwood Crescent, Belfast, BT5 6GE We are part of the Advance Movement of churches and the wider Newfrontiers family.

  • How Repentance Works

    17/09/2023 Duration: 31min

The city of Nineveh responded immediately to Jonah's preaching - the message of God's justice and mercy.   Repentance is a word frequently used in Christian spirituality, but what does it mean, and how do we actually DO repentance?   Main Text Jonah 3   Preacher David Varney, pastor Foundation Church Belfast   How you can give https://foundationchurchbelfast.com/giving/   Join our team https://foundationchurch.churchsuite.com/forms/is7rpbef   Foundation Church Belfast Every Sunday 10:30am - Knockwood Crescent, Belfast, BT5 6GE We are part of the Advance Movement of churches and the wider Newfrontiers family.

  • Crying Out to God in the Darkness

    10/09/2023 Duration: 34min

Jonah cries out to God from the place of deep darkness. He thought his life was over but he cried out to God with what little remained. But as Jonah discovered, God heard his cry. And God not only hears the cry for help, God acts to send rescue.   Things have moved on a bit from Jonah's cultural context, but God has not changed. He still hears our cries for help in the dark and desperate circumstances we may find ourselves in.   The good news is that God not only hears, he enters your darkness, he reaches down and offers salvation.   Main Text Jonah 2   Preacher David Varney, pastor Foundation Church Belfast   How you can give https://foundationchurchbelfast.com/giving/   Join our team https://foundationchurch.churchsuite.com/forms/is7rpbef   Foundation Church Belfast Every Sunday 10:30am - Knockwood Crescent, Belfast, BT5 6GE We are part of the Advance Movement of churches and the wider Newfrontiers family.

  • Mercy in the Storm

    03/09/2023 Duration: 33min

  • Generous Community

    18/07/2023 Duration: 38min

As we prepare for launch Sunday in our new building we are holding a special offering so we can complete our building renovation project. In the build up to our special Gift Sunday we learn from the monumental offering at a key moment in Israel's history. Exodus 35-36 recalls the account of the people's contribution to the building of the Tabernacle - the sacred meeting space where God would live among his people, and they could approach him in worship. What inspired the people of Israel to give so sacrificially and lavishly to the mission of God? It was what God had already done for them, and what more he was going to do among them. What should we give? Who should give? Why should we give? How should we give? • How to Tell True Disciples From False Disciples

    07/05/2023 Duration: 34min

Jesus teaches that it is possible to know about him with actually knowing him. People can understand the core teachings of Christianity or even possess remarkable spiritual powers, but still not be true disciples of Jesus. According to Jesus, only people who have experienced the New Birth (John 3:3) are true disciples of his. In this teaching, we examine Jesus' huge challenge at the end of his Sermon on the Mount to look at our own relationship to Jesus, and ask ourselves if we resemble true or false disciples.
