    Glen Magpiong of Wellesley joins host Tommy Cassell in the studio to talk about his cross-country bicycling trip, which raised money to help raise awareness and find a cure for ALS. Glen and Tommy first talked earlier this summer as the cyclist was early in his journey. This new episode talks about the full trip, which started when Glen dipped his bike’s wheels into Boston Harbor and ended on the Santa Monica Pier in California. Glen talks about his experiencing getting hit by a truck while on a highway and the logistics of continuing his trip after that, as well as all of the people along the way who helped make the trip a success.     The AMSA boys soccer team captains Patrick Langton, Josef Langton, Alex Lane and Calvin Fillios talk with host Tommy Cassell in this week's episode. The team is off to a 10-0-1 start on the season.  So far on the season, Patrick has 23 goals and 13 assists, while Calvin has tallied 20 goals and 13 assists. Next week the team takes on Sutton, who has beaten them in the postseason each of the past three years.   • Hopedale & Milford volleyball coach Andrew Mainini

    Host Tommy Cassell sits down with Andrew Mainini, who coaches the Hopedale girls volleyball team in the fall and Milford boys volleyball team in the spring. Mainini is in the midst of the girls volleyball season as the Blue Raiders finished last season with a 17-1 record and a No. 1 seed in the Division 3 Central sectional. Hopedale is off to a 5-2 start so far this season, dropping the matches to Millbury, who kicked Hopedale out of the tournament last year, and Shrewsbury, who is in Division 2. Mainini talks about what he has learned about being a coach over the years and how last season taught him he can (and should) diversify the strategies he teaches the girls. A Milford alumnus, Mainini is in his fifth season coaching Hopedale girls volleyball and he will be starting his third year at Milford this upcoming spring.     Host Tommy Cassell sits down with two Hopkinton football players and the Hillers offensive coordinator in this episode. Will Abbott, a senior, Ryan Kelleher, a junior, and Dan Sullivan, the Hillers’ offensive coach, shared their impressions of the beginning of the fall season as well as reflections of last year’s matchups. Abbott, a wide receiver, has scored five touchdowns in the first two weeks of the season. Kelleher is playing his first year as a full-time starting quarterback. The junior started the final two games of the 2016 season for the Hillers. Sullivan has coached at Hopkinton for eight years. The coach is originally from Ashland and talks about coaching against his childhood (and current) friend. He was the Ashland Post 77 Legion manager for a few years (summer baseball).     Host Tommy Cassell talks with Natick senior soccer captains Al and Dillon Arno and the Redhawks first-year coach Christian Rodriguez.  The Arno brothers are twins and play together on the boys soccer and ice hockey teams. They will be captains for both teams. Natick is currently 2-1 for soccer as the Arno brothers both play forward.Christian Rodriguez is in his first year as boys soccer coach but is a 1991 graduate of Natick High and is a police detective in Natick as well.  Christian Rodriguez is in his first year as boys soccer coach. Olson's football team, which was a co-op last year as Millis-Hopedale, won a Division 4A Super Bowl with a 30-18 victory over Maynard last December. It was the co-ops final season together and only Super Bowl victory, and first for Millis since 1999. Dana graduated from Medway High, Millis' Thanksgiving Day rival, and has coached in both towns for various high school sports. Vizakis was the associate head coach and offensive coordinator for the Scarlet Hawks last season. Vizakis grew up in Bellingham and graduated from Bishop Feehan High, where he played football. Cassell talks with Vizakis about his experience before coming to Milford. He played football at Bridgewater State. After graduation, he went on to serve as an assistant coach at a number of local high schools.   • Wellesley's Glen Magpiong - Episode 13

    Glen Magpiong joins host Tommy Cassell from Ohio. Magpiong is in the midst of a cross country journey on his bicycle to help raise awareness for ALS. A Wellesley resident, Magpiong is riding with his father, Earl, and with fellow Wellesley resident Tucker Swan. They are riding for former junior varsity boys basketball coach, Paul Seaver. Seaver was the JV coach, while Magpiong was the Wellesley boys basketball coach. Seaver was diagnosed with ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease) during the 2010-11 basketball season and died from it in 2013. Magpiong, the girls basketball coach at Wellesley High School, first cycled across the country in 2014. Magpiong is calling his ride the "Tour 2 Cure."   • Mike Condon, Ottawa Senators goalie - Episode 12

    Holliston native Mike Condon is a goalie for the Ottawa Senators and he talkswith host Tommy Cassell. Condon, who graduated from Belmont Hill, signed a three-year $7.2 million contract in June to be the backup goaltender for the Senators, a NHL team for the capital of Canada. Condon will be starting his second year with the Senators in September when training camp opens. “I put the pads on the first time in my driveway with my brother shooting tennis balls at me,” Condon tells Cassell. “And all the kids in the neighborhood saw it, they come, and now they are shooting tennis balls and all of sudden you are playing goalie and that’s what you are doing.” He talks about being the first guy out of the tunnel when the Penguins raised the Stanley Cup banner, despite not being on the team the year before, and what it was like playing in the Winter Classic at Gillette Stadium on New Year’s Day in 2016.     Bellingham’s Sarah Edwards sat down this week with podcast host Tommy Cassell. She talks about her first year running at Virginia Tech, her ACC championship win in the steeplechase, her summer competing with the Pan Am Junior Team in Peru and her battle with brain cancer her freshman year of high school. “My first day of high school I was diagnosed with brain cancer,” Edwards told Cassell during their conversation. She shared details of that experience as she explained to Cassell how she transitioned from a member of Bellingham’s varsity soccer team her freshmen year to running three seasons of track for the next three years. She started by “hiding with the sprinters” despite the coach’s plan that she run the 800-meter. Then during her first meet, she broke a school record in the 800-meter. “I stopped hiding with the sprinters,” she said. She was the Daily News Female Athlete of the Year in 2016.     Daily News Male Athlete of the Year Brian Espanet sits down and talks with Cassell’s Corner podcast host Tommy Cassell. Espanet was a three-sport athlete at Hopedale High School, who graduated in June. He played football for the co-op Millis-Hopedale team (which won a Division 4A state championship), the boys basketball team and baseball team. The team beat Maynard High 30-18 in the Division 4A Super Bowl in December. Espanet talks with Cassell about how that friendship on the football field with Millis players and the rivalry with Maynard carried over on the hardwood during the basketball season. During this high school career, Espanet scored over 1,000 career points in basketball and had over 100 career hits in baseball.     Daily News Female Athlete of the Year Grace Connolly talks with podcast host Tommy Cassell about her success in cross country and both indoor and outdoor track. Connolly finished her sophomore year at Natick High this past year. During which she was an individual All-American for both cross country and indoor track, and an All-American as part of a relay team in outdoor track. She talks about her season at Natick and choosing to focus solely on running instead of playing lacrosse. Connolly also talks about competing at the Foot Locker Northeast Regional race in New York in November, where she finished fourth (18:01). With a top-10 finish there, she garnered a spot at Foot Locker Nationals in San Diego, where she finished ninth with a time of 17:50. Kane and Weycker were major pieces of this year’s trip to the Division 1 State Championship game. It was the first time the Raiders competed at that level. The team fell to Taconic, but Kane and Weycker talk with Cassell about the high points of the season as well as look forward to next year. The team won the program’s first sectional title since 2005. Weycker, who finished his sophomore year this year, is a left-handed hitter and pitcher. The top-seeded Lincoln-Sudbury (17-1) boys lacrosse team faces third-seeded Acton-Boxborough in the Division 1 North sectional final on Wednesday at 5 p.m. at Harvard Stadium.   • Coaches Kristin Igoe and Tanner Guarino talk about girls lacrosse - Episode 3

    This week, host Tommy Cassell talks with Franklin Girls Lacrosse Coach Kristin Igoe and Natick Girls Lacrosse Coach Tanner Guarino. The women played together at Framingham High School in 2007, where they won the state title in girls lacrosse. Nine years later, after playing for different college programs they played together again. This time, professionally for the Boston Storm. Igoe and Guarino took to the field in 2016 for the first season of the United Women’s Lacrosse League. They have started the Gold Star Lacrosse, a competitive, year-round, club girls lacrosse team out of the Medway area. Igoe’s Franklin girls are competing tonight (June 7) at home against King Philip. The semi-final match for the Division 1 East is scheduled to start at 5 p.m. Guarino’s Natick girls went into the playoffs ranked eighth in the Division 1 East.
