Episodes

  • Podtoid 88: Toucan rider

    24/02/2009 Duration: 02h36s

This episode is about two things: penises and toucans. Though not necessarily in that order. Go here to listen to the new Podtoid. Jim, Topher, Samit, and myself are in it. And Adam Dork talks, like, twice. Highlights include: - We spoil Destructoid's Noby Noby Boy review - We spoil Destructoid Discusses for this week - Linde isn't there - Linde is there  - Fighting game schools of thought: manual dexterity vs intuitive strategy  - A short post-show conversation The best question this week came from MarkandChelle, which I guess is two people. Send your mailing address to reverendanthony [ a t]gmail [do t]com and we'll send you stuff.

  • Podtoid 87: Rose petals and the undead

    17/02/2009 Duration: 01h43min

This was supposed to be the Resident Evil episode, but we spend more than half our time talking about Flower. Life is unpredictable.Samit, Linde, Topher, special guest Nick Chester and myself recorded a podcast. You can listen to it here. Highlights include:- Is Flower too structured, or not structured enough? Or both?- Seriously, though, buy Flower- The Podtoid image contest voting thread is up - Has Resident Evil turned into a 3rd person shooter? Is that a bad thing?- Resident Evil 5 impressions from a guy who has played slightly more of it than you have - For the first time ever, get a behind-the-scenes listen of our full post-recording conversation, which (fair warning) is pretty goddamn long The best question came from Dimly. Just email your street address to reverendanthony [a t ] gmail [do t] com and we'll send you indeterminate stuff. [The Resident Evil quotes are from this video.]

  • Podtoid 86: This podcast is a LIE

    10/02/2009 Duration: 01h22min

Some people have said that there are better podcasts out there than Podtoid. That...is...a...LIE. Samit Sarker, Topher Cantler, Jim Sterling and myself are out to prove it.You can listen to the newest episode here, or subscribe to us iTunes. Highlights include:- More characters talking over each other, plz - Art criticism- Killzone 2 fanboyism: Jesus Christ- Yaaay - Topher dreams of a Dreamcast successor- It's okay to rage quit The best listener question came from Brian Keljore, whose name I so gloriously mispronounce on a weekly basis. Just send an email with your shirt size and mailing address to reverendanthony[a t]gmail [dot]com to get your Dtoid swag bag.[The song is the theme from The Street Fighter.]

  • Podtoid 85: I Want Sprinkles (A)

    04/02/2009 Duration: 01h25min

.Every picture tells a story, and this picture tells a better one than most. On this week's Podtoid, the reg'lar cast (Topher, Linde, Jim, and myself) talked a bunch of nonsense about videogames. As always, you can listen to the show here. Highlights included: - The Podtoid archives are now up - A contest - OTHER THINGS This week's best question came from SOME DUDE. Just send me an email at reverendanthony [a t] gmail [dot]com with your address and shirt size and we'll send you a swag bag. [The song is Shegata Sanshiro's theme. Shame on you if you didn't know that.]

  • Podtoid 84: Bulletproof Lightbulbsz

    27/01/2009 Duration: 01h15min

Linde died and has been replaced with Samit Sarkar. Given the way Samit performs Siegelpuntz, you'd never notice. This week's episode was full of very, very interestingly worded reader questions. You can listen to it here. Highlights included: - Musings on FEAR 2 and Resident Evil 5 - Artificial Intelligence, Shmartificial Intelligence - "Eh, I'll buy it after a price drop" - The first time a particular series of sentences have ever been spoken aloud in the history of mankind - Send all pre-episode 60 podtoids to reverendanthony [a t] gmail.com This week's best question came from Mr Happyfunlovetime, for obvious reasons. Happy, send an email to reverendanthony [a t ] gmail.com with your address and shirt size and we'll send you some stuff. [The song is from Rocko's Modern life.]

  • Podtoid 83: Get ready to feel bad about your body

    13/01/2009 Duration: 01h16min

Picture by Adam Dork. If you ever want to feel suicidal for about two hours straight, just ask Brad Nicholson what he did when he woke up. Just ask him. Around the time he's finished throwing out phrases like "four hundreth sit-up," you will truly understand just how abysmal your own body is. And then you will begin to masturbate. This week, Brad joined the regular cast to talk about a whole cavalcade of stuff. You can listen here, as always. Highlights included: - Linde love Siegelpuns - The end of EGM - Bob (of Bob's Game) is potentially a genius of the highest order - Nintendo wants to give you the option to watch your games rather than play them - Muscle Corner with Brad Nicholson This week's best question came from XanderSan, who simultaneously gave me idea for the next RFGO New Gamer Dictionary. Send me an email at reverendanthony [a t ]gmail [d ot] com with your address and shirt size and we'll send you a Dtoid swag bag. [The songs are from here.]

  • Podtoid 82: The Internet: making cannibalism easier

    06/01/2009 Duration: 01h09min

Hey, it's another Podtoid. This is one of the more directionless, meandering, weirder episodes we've done. I don't know why. I hope you don't hate it. You can listen to it here.Highlights included:- A- Bunch- Of- Random- Crap - Also, someone make a Gentleman Dinosaur game The best question came from Mike Hawk, who wins a Dtoid swag bag. The best dramatic reading of a line came from nobody, since nobody entered. Don't worry, though -- we don't blame you, and still love you like one of our own.

  • Podtoid 81: Sting and Brad Nicholson at the gym

    30/12/2008 Duration: 01h13min

Image by Adam Dork. It's almost 2009, and BonerQuest is out. These are the two main things we talk about on Podtoid 81, though sadly not as much of the latter as you're probably wishing for. This week, the reg'lar cast (being Topher, Jim, Aaron, and myself) talked about the following, which can be listened to here: - Brad Nicholson is more ripped than you will ever be in your entire life - Sting is metal - We unveil Chad Concelmo's Super Secret Dtoid GOTY voting process - The best, worst, most disappointing, and most interesting games of 2008 - A precursor to a larger BonerQuest discussion We ended up discussing most of the listener questions this week in our regular discussion, but randombullseye wins just because BonerQuest finally came out. Email your shipping details to (reverendanthony [a t] gmail [d ot] com) and we'll send you a Dtoid swag bag. [The song is "Baby I Love You" by The Yayhoos.]

  • Podtoid 80: It's the Christmas Podtoid, Charlie Brown

    24/12/2008 Duration: 01h18min

Header image by Adam Dork. It's that time of year for Holiday joy and mindless consumerism, and Podtoid chose to ignore both this week. Apart from the reader questions, you won't find any real mentions of Christmas -- no crappy Christmas music intro (instead, you'll get some pre- and post-show banter that would have otherwise been cut), no talk about our favorite gifts, none of that. As always, you can listen here. There are some Metal Gear Solid 4 spoilers sprinkled throughout. Highlights include: - Jim tells you how to feel about Metal Gear Solid 4 - Procedural versus scripted narrative  - Franchises, sequels, and the complications therein- "I'm Bishop"- Beating a dead horse, setting the horse on fire, cutting it into small pieces and eating it, then defacating it out and beating on it some moreThis week's most interesting question came from KorJax, with his question about "small touches" in games. Send me an email with your mailing address and we'll send you out a Dtoid swag basket.

  • Podtoid 79: Nathan Drake is back, baby

    16/12/2008 Duration: 01h26min

The VGA's were ridiculous, people are afraid of change, and Sony doesn't know what the hell they're doing. These are the topics of Podtoid 79. You can go here and listen to Jim, Aaron, Topher and myself bitch about gaming society, as always. Highlights included: - The subtle art of Quincying - If you love Sony, you should hate them - Y'all come back now if you evers want some food - Assassin's Creed on the DS is the pinnacle of technological achievement - Difficulty levels, and the absurdity therein The best question this week came from greeneggsnsam. Send me an email at reverendanthony [a t ] gmail [ do t] com and we'll send you some neat swag. [The song is "Put Your Hands Where My Eyes Can See" by Busta Rhymes.]

  • Podtoid 78: Porn and Lisa Frank

    09/12/2008 Duration: 01h21min

We weren't around last week. This week, we make up for it by spending the majority of the time talking about sex.On Podtoid 78, Topher Cantler, Aaron Linde, Jim Sterling and myself discuss the present and future of porn games. Can they be made well? Do we want them to be made well? Is there a market for them? For how long will we pretend that we wouldn't play one? As always, you can listen to it here, or subscribe to us on iTunes. This episode's highlights include: - Prince of Persia: great game, or greatest game?- The greatest listener email ever - The wanking peripheral in question - Bonetown, and the stupidity therein- Are porn games even possible?- Famous game locales, revisitedThis week's best listener question came from Reginald, who managed to get us on a fifteen minute tangent that somehow ended in Oddworld. [The song is from here.]

  • Podtoid 77: Valve loves you

    25/11/2008 Duration: 01h10min

Another new Podtoid this week -- with emphasis on the new. We've got new hosting, a new Valve game to play, and a new home for our own Jim Sterling. I'm tempted to make some sort of joke about episode 77 having a "new podcast smell," but that sort of stuff is really overplayed. Anyway. Jim, Aaron, Topher and I talked about PETA, the NXE, and the anniversary of Half-Life. Since we're now being hosted by the GamerCast Network, you can now listen to the show here, or subscribe to us on iTunes. Highlights include: - Space Invaders Extreme is surprisingly literal  - Adam Dork, voice of an angel  - Director AI: great for campaigns, less great for versus - Jim Sterling says the best thing you've ever heard  - Topher Cantler doesn't give a free pass to the phrase, "free pass" - After being forced to, we find fault with Valve Roughly half of our Valve discussions were based of Zcdrike's question, so he gets the cool swag. Send an email to reverendanthony [a t] gmail [ d o t ] com and we'll send you some stuff. [Th

  • Podtoid 76: More like ten sh*tloads

    18/11/2008 Duration: 01h12min

On this week's Podtoid, 3/4 of the cast do a simultaneous Cole Train impression which should, by any logic, cause some sort of rift in the space-time continuum. You can listen to the new episode here, or subscribe to us on iTunes, or do the RSS thing, or just hire someone to bother you every week and tell you that the new episode is uploaded. Highlights include: - All dat juice - Take as much time as you need, Dom - Scratch one grub - NICE! - Have you seen my wife? - A GIANT WORM IS SINKING THE CITY The most interesting question this week came from hystericswitch. Send me an email and we'll send you swag.
