Understanding what true Christian Meditation is helps us obediently listen to our creator God. Meditation is reflecting all about God's word and actions.

Breathe prayer comes from the understanding that just as we are unable to live from one breathe of air we are unable to live spiritually with only one breathe from God.

Now that we see the need to really know God and understand ourselves we can dive into what it really means to engage the disciplines, remember, it isn'€™t about what Jesus would do but how Jesus lived.

Often times we begin to know God but ignore the importance of knowing ourselves. When we truly begin to understand ourselves in light of knowing God we can journey in the disciplines far more effectively and more importantly relate better to work of God that Ephesians 1:7-8 talks about: “In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace that he lavished on us with all wisdom and understanding.

God calls us to grow in the knowledge of Himself (2 Peter 3:18). We need to know who He is, at least begin to understand, in order to truly know and understand ourselves and why the disciplines are necessary.
