On a dramatic day at the historic Dutch track, rank outsider Jack Miller beat the best riders in the world and overcame some treacherous conditions to claim a shock victory for the Estrella Galicia satellite team. Marc Marquez took second place in the rain-interrupted race to extend his championship lead over title rivals Jorge Lorenzo, who finished 10th, and Valentino Rossi who crashed out when leading. A sombre mood descended upon the Catalan GP this past weekend as Spanish Moto2 rider Luis Salom lost his life in practice on Friday. After consultation with Luis’ family, team and the safety commission, it was decided that racing should continue.
