This week, Matt and John share and discuss their five favorite slasher films.

This week, Matt and John discuss the 1992 teen comedy, ENCINO MAN.  Which is worth noting because Stony wheezes the juice and Dave is a douche.

This week, I interview Chris Hewitt.  Hewitt is the film critic for the Saint Paul Pioneer Press.  He is incredibly generous with his time and attention, loving to talk about movies.  He's not shy with his love for genre films and is a very refreshing voice in the Twin Cities.  Our conversation ranges from growing up in a small town to critics' opinions in the Oscars to the future of big press film criticism.  

This week, Matt and John discuss the Shot-on-Video slasher film, 555.  Perhaps one of the most notorious SOVs, it is notable to us because it was made by adults.

This week, I interview Kathie Smith.  Kathie is a programmer at the Trylon Microcinema, co-founder and writer of the new Minneapolis film blog, Joyless Creatures, programmer for MSPIFF (Minneapolis Saint Paul International Film Festival), works for Raro Video and hunter of interesting film.  We discuss Box Office Video, illegal screenings, top-loading VCRs and more.

This week, Matt and John discuss the giant mess that is THE LAST SLUMBER PARTY.  This shot-on-video debacle divides us on whether the disastrous happenings are entertaining or tedious.  

This week, I interview Lewis Jackson.  Jackson is the director of CHRISTMAS EVIL (aka YOU BETTER WATCH OUT).  His film is a fascinating and genre-breaking masterwork that is now a mainstay for me every year.  We talk about body horror pornography, how his film was financed by the Mafia and Communists, Fassbinder and his take on what Friday the 13th Part 3 woud've been if he had written it.  

This week, Matt and John discuss the 1984 Christmas slasher film, SILENT NIGHT, DEADLY NIGHT.  After watching his parents get brutally murdered by Santa Clause on a deserted highway, young Billy stocks toys during a wonderful montage and then shoots a co-worker in the back with a bow & arrow, and we rejoice.

This week I talk with Jesus Teran.  Jesus started Slasher Video in April of 2012 and has been working at break-neck pace to put out some of the most obscure and interesting Shot on Video stuff around.  Starting with the notorious and hilarious Death Nurse, he's managed to keep his titles interesting and make the releases look great.  Our conversations goes all over the place, as we talk about how he got started, the process of putting things out, and the dream titles he hopes to release.  

This week, Matt and John discuss the films of Chester Novell Turner.  Turner is the director of the very obscure films, BLACK DEVIL DOLL FROM HELL and TALES FROM THE QUADEAD ZONE.  At turns fascinating, morally reprehensible, hilarious, and thought provoking, his films are finally able to be found on a new release from Massacre Video.  Our discussion veers from misogyny in horror film to suicide, to really good audio mixing.  

This week, Matt, Tom and John discuss the 1989 8mm tape gem, THINGS.  Directed by Andrew Jordan and starring Barry J. Gillis.

This week, I interview TERRORIVSION.  It was a short-lived local podcast about finding great treasures.  Only ten episodes long, it was still one of the more enjoyable film podcasts I've ever heard.  The memebers are now scattered across the country, and we came together to discuss how it all came together, the future, and Red Lobster.

This week, Matt and John discuss the shot on video film, VIDEO VIOLENCE.  The Gary P. Cohen film gets us going on violence in movies, the shot on video revolution, sweet keyboard music and more.

This week, I interview Peter Schilling, Jr.  Peter is the author THE END OF BASEBALL, a projectionist and programmer at the Trylon Microcinema, a life-long lover of film and the author of numerous blogs.  Peter and I talk about the Detroit Tigers, Star Wars, Citizen Kane, 16mm projection and more.

This week, Matt and John defend the 1988 Richard Pryor comedy, MOVING, which they believe has been unfairly maligned and ignored.

This week, I interview Nikki Weispfenning.  Nikki is the projectionist at the Trylon Microcinema in Minneapolis, MN.  Her experience working around and with film over the past twenty years has made her one of the most interesting and knowledgable people in our little Minneapolis community.  Her perfect presentation and painstaking attention to detail continues to make viewing films at the Trylon a pleasure.  Our conversation veers from North Dakota to a geek out on projection to movie theaters in general.

This week, I interview Matt Gamble.  Matt is a prolific blogger, podcaster and passionate lover of movies.  Our conversation veers from falling in love with movies and bowling to being a theater manager to texting during movies.  

This week, I interview Jim Brunzell.  Jim is the director of SOUND UNSEEN, he runs The Defenders series at the Trylon Microcinmea, writes for the Twin Cities Daily Planet and is all around awesome.  This is our conversation about his dad, Jumping Jim Brunzell, how he got into dance, the Oak Street Cinema and more.  

October is David A. Prior Month at All-Star Video.  We have been reviewing and talking about his movies all month in anticipation of the upcoming release of DEADLIEST PREY.  This week, we talk to the man himself.  

This week, I meet with Tom Reinert and we discuss David A. Prior's most recent film and sequel to the cult action film, Deadly Prey.
