  • It Feels Like It's Over

    27/03/2023 Duration: 33min

On today's edition of the Locked On FLORIDA Panthers Podcast, Armando Velez(@Mandoman12) is here to discuss how the Florida Panthers can't seem to help themselves in the last 3 games(0-3-0). Florida on Saturday night got off to the fastest of starts just only allowing 3 SOG in the first period(1 at 5-on-5), but the last 40 minutes belonged to the New York Rangers as puck management was the issue for Florida. The Cats kept the big guns of New York off the scoresheet(that's if you don't count the own goal that was credited to Patrick Kane), but it was the kid line for the New York Rangers that the Panthers allowed to get going. The Panthers in the last 3 games have been great at killing penalties(only allowing 1 PPG); if it's the PK that has a stretch of playing well, then it's another issue that arises. The 5-on-5 play for the Panthers has been trouble over the last 3 games, a lot doing with the constant line shuffles due to Sam Bennett's injury. The Panthers now are at a point with 9 games remaining, this 4-g

  • Panthers Slow Starts To 1st and 2nd Proved Costly as They Drop Their Second Straight in Regulation

    24/03/2023 Duration: 36min

It's a Fairbanks Friday Edition of the Locked On FLORIDA Panthers Podcast, as Nick Fairbanks(@Prudentia0) joins Armando Velez(@Mandoman12) to discuss the Panthers' 6-2 loss against the Toronto Maple Leafs. Panthers were celebrating Pride Night and it came with controversy as Eric and Marc Staal did not take the ice for warmups. The Panthers were slow to start the 1st and 2nd period and it resulted in them playing consistently behind. The Maple Leafs were the team with the sticks in the passing and shooting lanes while the Panthers were mostly around the perimeter on Thursday Night. Armando and Nick discuss how Thursday's loss to Toronto makes Tuesday's loss to Philly look a bit worse now as the Panthers are now hoping that the Penguins can drop some games now. The Panthers will need an 8-2-0 finish in the last 10 to stamp themselves into the playoffs? Armando and Nick will discuss this and today's edition of the Locked On FLORIDA Panthers Podcast: Your Team, Every DayFollow & Subscribe on all Podcast plat

  • The Sky isn t Falling On The Panthers Playoff Hopes After Loss In Philly

    22/03/2023 Duration: 37min

It is a Winans Wednesday Edition of the Locked On FLORIDA Panthers Podcast, as Jacob Winans(@JacobWinans8) joins Armando Velez(@Mandoman12) to recap the Panthers' 6-3 loss at the hands of the Philadelphia Flyers. Broad Street has been a house of horrors for the Panthers this season as Carter Hart has a combined 89/95(.936 sv%) in both games he's faced against Florida. This game however was lost late in the second period where the Panthers gave up 3 goals in 2:01 where there were constant miscommunications with their defense corps, and Alex Lyon just could not make that "game changing save." The Panthers were without F Anthony Duclair and Sam Bennett on Tuesday night against Philadelphia, but the sky is not falling for the Panthers as for the time being, they do not control their own destiny(could change with a Pittsburgh loss of any kind tonight vs. Colorado). The guys also discuss how Tuesday's loss just makes Thursday and Saturday's game against 2 playoff teams in Toronto and NYR even more crucial for the P

  • Panthers Win More Than Just a Road Game In Detroit

    21/03/2023 Duration: 34min

On today's edition of the Locked On FLORIDA Panthers Podcast, Armando Velez(@Mandoman12) is here to discuss the Panthers 5-2 road win against the Detroit Red Wings where the Panthers have swept the season series(and have won 9 straight over Detroit). Panthers never trailed after getting two goals in the first 12 minutes as they had the territorial advantage early and often. Detroit cut the lead to 1 multiple times on Monday night, but the Panthers had a response every single time. It was a record setting night where Aleksander Barkov became the all time leader in points for the Florida Panthers player with 614(passing Jonathan Huberdeau). Barkov got the secondary assist on Gustav Forsling's goal in the 2nd period to make it 3-1 at the time to give him the record. However, Monday night was more than just a win for the Panthers in Detroit. Along with the Pittsburgh Penguins losing to the Ottawa Senators at home, which means that the Panthers are now currently in the final Wild Card Spot in the Eastern Conferenc

  • Teams Should Be SCARED of The Panthers If They Make The Postseason

    20/03/2023 Duration: 35min

On today's edition of the Locked On FLORIDA Panthers Podcast, Armando Velez(@Mandoman12) is here to discuss the Florida Panthers wrapping up a 5-1-1 home stand which puts them in a great position to compete for a playoff spot as now the teams have been narrowed to 3 teams for 2 spots. Armando discusses the win for the Cats against New Jersey where at times the games felt like it was lost in the 1st period when the Panthers were dominating the Devils, but Akira Schmid was standing tall for NJ. We saw some great performances out of Aleksander Barkov(who is now tied for the all-time lead in franchise points at 613), Matthew Tkachuk, and Sam Reinhart(5 goals in his last 4 games) to help the Panthers with a come-from-behind home win against the best road team in the NHL in New Jersey. We discuss how the Panthers have been turning it around in the 3rd period as of late in this home stand and discuss if it's something that can carry to the road as the Cats have 7 road games left(6 of them against non-playoff teams),

  • Panthers Blitz On Montreal(Again!), Set Some Franchise Records in 9-5 Win

    17/03/2023 Duration: 36min

On today's edition of the Locked On FLORIDA Panthers Podcast, Armando Velez(@Mandoman12) is joined by Nick Fairbanks(@Prudentia0) to discuss the Panthers' manhandling of the Montreal Canadiens. Panthers were down early in the first period 16 seconds in, tied the game quickly, and it was a back and forth afair for the first 8 minutes of the first period. After that, it was the Panthers with "all gas, no breaks" as they scored 4 unanswered goal over the next 5-6 minutes, basically putting the game out of hand. It was a franchise record 7 goals in one period for the Panthers, and that was with the Cats allowing 3 goals on 3 shots to start the game. Yet it was the Panthers with the 4-goal lead after the first 13 minutes. Panthers have scored on the Power Play again against Montreal(8/18 on the season vs. MTL) and also set a franchise record for goals for against a single opponent through 3 games played at 22. Matthew Tkachuk with another 3-point night(3 straight games with 3 points) and now is one of 5 Florida Pa

    16/03/2023 Duration: 34min

On today's edition of the Locked On FLORIDA Panthers Podcast, Armando Velez(@Mandoman12) discuss the scoreboard results around the NHL on Wednesday with Washington-Buffalo and NYI-Anaheim and fluctuation of having 3 games in hand to being equal in games played in the next week that'll be one big roller coaster. The Panthers have no room for error for these 3 game in hand. At the moment, if the Panthers were to tie in points with the Islanders, they would not own the tiebreaker. Armando also discuss the key dates for Free Agency and the Draft Lottery and Gary Bettman's comment's on Salary Cap and Divisional Format. Then we preview tonight's game between the Montreal Canadiens and the Florida Panthers where the Cats have had two dominant wins over the Habs this season. Armando and Jacob discuss the Panthers being in control of their destiny, but with some hesitance from Armando knowing that there were teams behind the Panthers in points that did not take advantage of the games in hand. With the inconsistencies of the Panthers, can they find a way to pass the Islanders in points? Segment 2, we discuss the signing of 2022 3rd Round Pick D Marek Alscher to his ELC. This is the time of year where prospects with draft rights sign their ELC's, the guys discuss who they think is next. 3rd and final segment, the guys discuss the GM meetings that are going on in South Florida, what are the possible topics that are discuss and what we would like to see come out of the meetings on today's edition of the Lo

Also for the second consecutive game, they used a 3rd period come back to get the game into overtime, only this time coming on the losing end. Matthew Tkachuk with another 3-point night(2,1) for the Panthers helps lead the comeback for Florida. Saturday had 5 of the 9 goals score on the Power Play. Panthers shot themselves in the foot by going to the penalty box 4 times in the 1st period. Armando and Alex discuss the stretch that the Panthers have played since 2/20 and how they'll need a similar stretch they'd need(possibly even better) in the last 15 games if they want to qualify for the postseason. Panthers got a net positive as far as Saturday Night's result, but now unfortunately with the games in hand being made up, so are the teams that

    11/03/2023 Duration: 38min

On today's edition of the Locked On FLORIDA Panthers Podcast, Nick Fairbanks(@prudentia0) is back and joins Armando Velez(@Mandoman12) to discuss the Panthers 4-3 OT win over the Chicago Blackhawks. Panthers with some mental errors early in the first period caused them to go down 2-0 after 1. Panthers went to the penalty box 6 times in the game, but stopped the Blackhawks going 6/6 on the PK. The Cats controlled play for the whole game but struggled with puck retrieval despite having the territorial advantage early on. However, the Panthers score 3 goals in 4:13 to take the lead in the 3rd. Chicago scores with 45 seconds left in regulation but Brandon Montour with the heroics scores the OT winner(a career high in goals) to send the Panthers home with 2 points. On today's edition of the Locked On FLORIDA Panthers Podcast, it's another edition of Winans Wednesday. Jacob Winans(@JacobWinans8) joins Armando Velez(@Mandoman12) on the show to discuss the Panthers dominant win against the Vegas Golden Knights. The final score did not indicate dominance, but the Panthers controlled play from the jump, and had the Golden Knights pinned in their own zone to the point where it was 15-0 in shots blocked for Vegas. Panthers missed the net and G Adin Hill stood tall for Vegas, but the Panthers were able to contain VGK's top line, including Jack Eichel only having 1 shot on goal in the entire game. The Luostarinen-Barkov-Duclair line has brought a different element to this Panthers team ever since they've been put together. Despite a few mental errors for the Cats with going to the penalty box 4 times, the Panthers made up for it with scoring goals on VGK turnovers. Jacob and Armando discuss how Sergei Bobrovsky has performed in the last 4 games, and ask "do the Panthers consider

On this Fairbanks Friday Edition of the Locked On FLORIDA Panthers Podcast, Nick Fairbanks(@Prudentia0) joins Armando Velez(@Mandoman12) to discuss the Panthers' 2-1 loss against the Nashville Predators on Thursday Night. The game was lost in the first period not just on the scoreboard, but the Panthers inability to get shots on goal in period number 1, Panthers were not developing a forecheck, along with plays being broken up in the neutral zone. The Panthers from the 2nd period on were controlling the game, getting the transition game going where they got on the board on an odd man rush by Ryan Lomberg and Brandon Montour. 01/03/2023 Duration: 33min

It's a Winans Wednesday on the Locked On FLORIDA Panthers Podcast as Armando Velez(@Mandoman12) brings in Jacob Winans(@JacobWinans8) to discuss the Panthers' 4-1 win over the Tampa Bay Lightning in their 4th and final matchup of the regular season. The Panthers are now 4-2-2 at Amalie Arena in the regular season since 2021, so there's more of a comfort level for the Panthers playing in a hostile environment. Florida set the tone early by taking away the shooting lanes for the Panthers where they allowed only 11 SOG in the first two periods. Panthers were able to contain the leagues 2nd best power play unit by going 4/5 on the Penalty Kill and the Panthers gave Bobrovsky goal support as he is now the winningest Russian-Born Goaltender in NHL History. Armando and Jacob discuss where does this possibly leave the Panthers as far as what they do at the deadline if they get another 2 points against the Predators on Thursday Night. We discuss and more on today's edition of the Locked On FLORIDA Panthers Podcast: Yo

    28/02/2023 Duration: 35min

Armando will give his reaction to that comment on whether or nor it's lip service. Maurice discusses how the Panthers are still a young team and how they are at the start of a run as oppose to a 5-6 year run ending. Armando gives his opinions on how valid that statement from Maurice is. We also discuss the Lightning's trade for F Tanner Jeannot and how influenced another division rival in the Toronto Maple Leafs to make another trade to bolster up their roster. 26/02/2023 Duration: 37min

On today's edition of the Locked On FLORIDA Panthers Podcast, Armando Velez(@Mandoman12) brings in Alex Slemp(@AlexSlemp) from Full Press Hockey to discuss the Panthers' approach to Friday's Trade Deadline. The guys discuss what the Panthers' expiring contracts and what they were traded for and what they could be worth now. Is Bill Zito leaning towards selling guys with term in order to recoup some of the assets traded from last years deadline? The Cats didn't get help from the games in hand over the weekend, which makes their playoff chances a lot lower after losing to Buffalo on Friday night. Panthers since have been more comfortable with playing at Amalie Arena(in the regular season) since the 2021 season where if the get a win on Tuesday, they'd be .500 at Amalie in the regular season over the last 3 seasons. The guys also discuss who would be ready to take the 2C if Sam Bennett does get trade either by Friday or in the offseason. • Panthers Lose 3-1 to Buffalo, Will The Panthers Now Be Sellers?

    25/02/2023 Duration: 36min

It's a Fairbanks Friday edition of the Locked On FLORIDA Panthers Podcast, as Armando Velez(@Mandoman12) brings in Nick Fairbanks(@prudentia0) to break down the Panthers' 3-1 loss against Buffalo in what was a must-win, the Panthers got 0 points out of it. Despite the Panthers missing Aleksander Barkov and Sam Bennett, the Panthers had 54 shots on goal for the game(most of them being perimeter shots). Anthony Duclair made his return to the Panthers lineup and got an assist in the Panthers' one and only goal of the game as they were unable to put enough pressure on former Panther goalie Craig Anderson. Florida is now behind Buffalo, Detroit, Pittsburgh and New York in Points Percentage with 3 of those teams having multiple games in hand. The Panthers had 3 days from Monday's game to Friday's, and now will have 3 more days off from now until the time they play Tampa Bay on Tuesday, and the playoff picture could get uglier for the Cats before they hit the ice in a game setting again. Armando and Nick also discus
